30th Anniversary of The Love Mixes!
This was a tape collecting the first Doof tracks from 1992. Hand-dubbed, and with a hand-drawn cover, I recorded it to give to friends in December 1992. As far as I know, only a single copy still exists.
To celebrate the 30 year anniversary, I went back to the original Tascam 688 multitrack cassette tapes,

This was a tape collecting the first Doof tracks from 1992. Hand-dubbed, and with a hand-drawn cover, I recorded it to give to friends in December 1992. As far as I know, only a single copy still exists.
To celebrate the 30 year anniversary, I went back to the original Tascam 688 multitrack cassette tapes, which I somehow still have, and remastered each track. The sound quality of the Love Mixes tape was not great by modern standards, but the original multitrack tapes actually survived the years quite well. Of course, the master tapes are still only cassettes, not digital masters. But I think they have their own charm, very much of their time.
Five of these early Doof tracks have never previously been released anywhere. And the other two (Gift of the Gods and The Nagual) are the original 'demo' versions of tracks that were later released in re-recorded versions. These original versions have also never previously been released.
So... 30 years on and, I think, not sounding too bad. They definitely have a vibe. Well, those were the days, eh?
